State political trends in 2007, 2008 showcased in "Out There" columns

The political seasons of 2007 and 2008 are chronicled in a series of "Out There" columns written by political journalist Louis Jacobson and published by Stateline.org.

Jacobson's final regular column in this series was published Feb. 4, 2009, and looked ahead to the 36 gubernatorial races in 2010. Together with Stateline.org's 2008 state elections coverage and 2007 state elections guide, this archive of "Out There" columns is a handy reference of state-by-state election information.

Jacobson, who contributed his columns under a special arrangement with Stateline.org, is editor of CongressNow, an online publication covering legislation and policy in Congress that is affiliated with Roll Call newspaper in Washington, D.C. His “Out There” column was featured in Roll Call from 2004 to 2006.

Stateline.org is an independent project of the Pew Center on the States and is based in Washington, D.C. Check out www.stateline.org for more.
